UMass College Eid al-Adha Dinner

Sup people, so UMass had a very late Eid al-Adha dinner last weekend 6-11pm very late for a “family dinner”, late am I right? Anyway so we got the family together in the big van and took a 35min ride up there for some food, and to get some laughs. One thing that UMass never fails at is to get a nice good laugh. After many speakers later and a 10-15min wait for the main speaker to come, even though he wasn’t late, I guess they never learnt time management. After the “late” speaker came, my cousin, younger sister (Mya), and myself went back into the main room, where we couldn’t really hear a thing, thanks to a loud table of woman and their loud children. With their husband sitting at the table next to them not helping them even a little bit… so sad. Anyways overall had a good time chilling with the family and having some food and seeing the few people up there I like.

Playing in leaves and Reading with the good Doctor

Ever since Fall started and the leaves hit the ground, I have been trying the take pictures of my ‘Cousins’ little fat-man Shuayb a.k.a Sir Linky outside with the leaves… So after many and i mean many weeks of telling his mother that he needed pictures of himself as a  baby in the brown, red, orange, and gold New England Fall leaves, I finally got took some and I think that came out pretty damn good if I say so myself… and I do :D
so Sumiyya(Mya) my younger sister, and Najiyah (Naji, his mother) and myself  got him dressed and looked for some clean dry leaves (took like 10mins) but we found some in the front yard. The ground was a little wet from the rain the day before, but Mya had a great idea of putting a brown paper bag under him to keep him from getting wet, but that still didn’t stop him from trying to eat the leaves next to him lol after we went in the house for a little light reading of Dr. Seuss. Anyway here are some of the pictures from the other day!

Sorry ladies we got the only one there lol

Mohawk Trail

The Masjid (place of pray) had a fieldtrip to Mohawk Trail on 11/7, it’s about an hour drive from where I live…  which means I had to get ready at 6am even though I didn’t sleep the night before. Anyway I had to ride on a bus with 60 other people… ahh fun time’s lol I didn’t even have breakfast before hand, but overall I had a good time and hiked 4miles in 2hours and got a few good laughs along the way.

Smith College Eid al-Adha Dinner

What is Eid al-Adha

At the end of the Hajj (annual pilgrimage to Mecca), Muslims throughout the world celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice). In 2010, Eid al-Adha will begin on approximately November 16th, and will last for three days

What else do Muslims do to celebrate the holiday?

On the first morning of Eid al-Adha, Muslims around the world attend morning prayers at their local mosques. Prayers are followed by visits with family and friends, and the exchange of greetings and gifts. At some point, members of the family will visit a local farm or otherwise will make arrangements for the slaughter of an animal. The meat is distributed during the days of the holiday or shortly thereafter.

Maymunah (Munah) shes the baby of the family. she turned 10 on 8/7

Nusaybah (Saybah) Turned 13 on 8/12 her and Qayah are the same age for a week, so you can say we have "twins" in our family ;) P.S. i made the cake!

Ruqaiyah (Qayah) Turned 14 on 8/19 she and Saybah she the same age for a week each year, its kinda cool if you think about (some people say once your born you can't have a twin, if you didn't already have one at birth, but i guess we proved them wrong lol)

P.S. there is one more sister whose birthday is in August, shes the oldest of the family... i just can't find the picture of her and the cake :( i will not stop till i find it lol ;) Found it weeks later!

Ramadan Mubarak!!!

Here is a little info...

Ramadan is one of the twelve Arabic months. It is a month which is venerated in the Islamic religion, and it is distinguished from the other months by a number of characteristics and virtues, including the following:

Allah has made fasting this month the fourth pillar of Islam, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month…”[al-Baqarah 2:185]

On a side note:

Ramadan really is one of the best times of the year for me, because I get to see everyone that I haven’t had time to see or hang out with any other time of the year, we have parties, dinner date, and hangout. For me Ramadan is a good time to relax and reflect on the way my life is going and try to become a better person.

Camping ^_^

This past weekend my family and a few of our family friends went camping. once a year all the family packs up the cars/vans and drive the whatever miles to the camping grounds and spend
the weekend together eating, talking, swimming, bonfires and just having an all around good
time. I didn't really take a lot of pictures this year because I just forgot with everything going on.

Most of the free time I have while camping, I just like taking long walks by myself, and enjoy nature's beauty.

(Around 8am)

(Around 1am)

Breakfast is a big deal for us when we go camping. So the 1st one is around 9am and we have cereal. Fruits, and bagels. The 2nd is around 11am and we have bacon, sausage, eggs, and

croissants.

And since most of the time we eat junk food during the afternoon dinner is pretty much a big deal to ^_^

Who doesnt love Bonfires!!!

And whats camping without Smores, but once again we have so many of us that we have a Smores line setup thats forever long, but always fun lol

and of course the beautiful water around sunset
